Hello!! It has been a while… a long while. I wish I had a glamorous excuse like traveling the world but the truth is much more real world and frustrating. Late last year my website was hacked in a pretty big way. For weeks we worked behind the scenes to try to restore or save what was left, but despite back ups it was all gone. I was devestated. SO much work goes in to website design and formatting behind the scenes and right before Christmas a re-build just wasnt possible. But, with the help of the amazing team at Live by 5 (who I owe more than a couple of bottles of wine) I now have a brand new, beautiful website to share sessions in a more detailed way with you all.
I have especially missed being able to share Beautiful You Sessions with you. These sessions make my heart happy, and I know so many of you enjoy seeing these beautiful smiling faces.
Halle’s Aunty got in touch to share the story of her niece and nominate her for a Beautiful You Session. After countless trips to drs and hospitals, Halle was diagnosed with a rare condition which affects her bowels. Essentially, they don’t work, leaving Halle in severe pain and at risk of the many side effects of severe bowel problems. In September Halle was able to have a ileostomy inserted, where there is an external bag to collect waste, and will wear a stoma bag for the rest of her life. A daunting idea for a 5 year old girl and her family.
We used Halle’s Beautiful You Session to celebrate her surgery, which will hopefully put an end to her painfully full bowels and endless Dr visits, and as a way to show Halle that she is beautiful, stoma bag and all. We photographed her with her Mum and Grandmother, having fun, cuddling and laughing, and at the end she proudly showed off her new accessory.
What makes this project so special is the little step it allows families and children to make to normalise and share what to them is every day life.
The Beautiful You Project offers free photography sessions and digital files for children with special needs. For more information regarding these sessions please email firstname.lastname@example.org
